Client:   KEF
Location:   UK
Year Completed:   2011

KEF, British-based loudspeaker manufacturer with international distribution, has been virtually synonymous with loudspeaker innovation for five decades. In 2011, we were approached by the KEF design team to assist in finishing the design to allow for composite materials to be used for their unique new premium speaker, the KEF Blade.

KEF Blade Speakers

Fibreglass Solutions worked seamlessly with the project’s designers to provide design-assistance, precision tooling and construct the slender 1.6 metre tall enclosures in GRP for shows and exhibitions. Glass-reinforced plastic was ideal for this project due to the inert and exceptionally rigid nature of the material that lends itself to forming the complex parabolic curves which help to eliminate any internal standing waves that might otherwise blur the output.

As functional as they are striking, we finished the KEF speakers in an array of colours: Piano Black, Snow White, Warm Metallic Grey, Light Metallic Silver, Racing Red, Frosted blue, Frosted Copper Black. This project serves as another great instance of our ability to actualize our client’s intentions and accomplish outstanding results that exceed expectations.

London’s first art interior club

Jalouse is a members club discreetly located in the heart of Mayfair. Since its opening in 2008, Jalouse has been the centre of attraction for many distinguished and influential guests.

Jalouse Club, Mayfair

We were very pleased to be working with world renowned artist & designer Mark Humphrey, building a full range of furniture as part of a complete structural refurbishment for the prestigious venue according to Mark’s designs.

The brief, driven by the club owners, entrepreneurs Moruf Yoozooph and Freddie Achom, was to create an elegant interior that raises the standard of design for high-end nightclubs in London.

Our works involved a bespoke fibreglass moulded 8 metre curved bar, complete with LED illuminated 60mm deep honey-coloured onyx counters. A state-of-the-art jet black mirror-polished DJ Console, of which on regular club nights is used by some of the worlds most well known DJs. Along with sleek low-level drinks tables, reception desk and stunning sculpted vanity basins in the men’s, women’s and VIP washrooms.

As with all designer nightclubs, lighting was hugely important. We produced and installed unique composite wall sconces to adorn the club’s supremely luxurious interior. This was a great project for our team and it’s no wonder the Jalouse has been voted the best new club at the London Bar and Club Awards in 2009 and Best Club at the same awards the following year.

BBC Worldwide at the new White City Media Centre, in London.

News

BBC:   “The globe has already been integrated into some of the BBC hosting TV specials, such as Comic Relief and Children In Need and has featured in the BBC Watchdog programmes”.

BBC Media Centre, London

Collaboratively working with our client, our brief was to produce a custom fibreglass BBC Worldwide globe for the large ground floor vestibule at the Media Centre in London’s White City. The area is a much used space, both for corporate hosting and as a global living room, designed with the objective of creating a dynamic space that would be a celebration of people working together.

We produced a 5 metre GRP moulded sphere to be used to project onto showing the news and current affairs, manufacturing it in a white matt finish to ensure that there was no degradation of image. Beneath the sphere we also made custom fibreglass seating for those wanting to watch smaller screens.

The large split globe has not only provided the area with an innovative media serving solution to promote awareness of all BBC businesses, but has also become an iconic feature of the building’s atrium.
