World-class medieval stained glass on display
The Orb showcases examples of some of the world’s most important medieval art from York Minster’s Great East Window, which is now undergoing a massive conservation programme. One of the largest projects of its kind in Europe.

York Minster Cathedral Orb, UK
Constructed in GRP with a zinc effect finish, The Orb is a 10m wide, 3m tall metallic dome produced for Paragon Creative.
The contemporary, metallic exterior of the Orb is subtly illuminated with interactive projections comprising of five newly conserved panels of stained glass to add extra colour and movement to the domed roof. Isolated from the background of the ongoing restoration work, the displays will change each month throughout the Orb’s 3 year tenancy of the space.
The high quality composite exterior is smooth to touch whilst being extremely durable and hard-wearing. Ideal to accomplish this 21st century display space for 15th century masterpieces. This project serves as another great instance of our ability to actualize our client’s intentions. Below is the excellent feedback received from our client.
